Newbiggin-by-the-Sea is a small town within Northumberland, England. The town which is situated on the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, was a busy port when it was a large exporter of grain, but is now just a small fishing port. Newbiggin was also the end point of the first telegraph cable from Scandinavia in 1868. The Life Boat Station in Newbiggin built in 1851, is the oldest operational boathouse in the British Isles and it boasts the longest promenade in Northumberland. A visit to Newbiggin Maritime Centre is an insight to the history & heritage of the town. Also here is the Newbiggin Seaside Links Golf Course and Newbiggin Art Trail.
