Lancaster
Lancaster
Lancaster is a town and county of Lancashire, north east of England. The town was granted city status due to its long standing connections to the British monarchy. Lancaster has had ancient settlements dating back to Roman, Saxon & Norman times and the on the site where Lancaster Castle stands, there was once a Roman Fort. The red rose emblem for the House of Lancaster, like the white rose for the House of York were both derived from the Royal Duchies of Lancaster & York and it was the war between them for claims to the throne that the title ‘Wars of the Roses’ came.
