Barnoldswick
Barnoldswick
Barnoldswick is town in Lancashire, England. Built on the lower slopes of rolling heather moorland of Weets Hills in the Pennines just outside of the Yorkshire Dale National Park and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town sits between the Aire Valley and Ribble Valley at the highest point of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal between Barrowford Locks and Greenberfield Locks. It was due to the building of the canal that the already existing wool industry grew and a cotton industry began. Bancroft Mill is now a tourist attraction and displays a working mill engine. Barnoldswick is also the home of the Jet engine built during WWII by Rolls-Royce who are based in the town. Other big employers in Barnoldswick are the Silentnight Group Uk, who’s head office and manufacturing premises of Silentnight Beds can be found.
